INDIANA – Governor Eric J. Holcomb is directing flags to be flown at half-staff in Johnson County in honor and remembrance of Johnson County Sheriff’s Deputy Timothy J. Guyer. Deputy Guyer died in the line of duty on Tuesday, Aug. 1.
Flags should be flown at half-staff in Johnson County from sunrise to sunset on Tuesday, Aug. 8. Gov. Holcomb is asking businesses and residents in Johnson County to lower their flags to half-staff.
Academy recruits found Tim Guyer, a 49-year-old resident of Trafalgar, unresponsive in his dormitory room at the academy in Plainfield after he did not report to breakfast Tuesday morning. Recruits gave life-saving measures to him, and medics later pronounced him dead at the academy, ILEA executive director Tim Horty said at a Tuesday afternoon press conference.
Guyer leaves behind a wife and four children.
