DUBOIS CO. – The cleanup process is in full swing across Dubois County following a tornado that hit on Monday.
While the National Weather Service continues its assessment of the destruction, they have confirmed an EF1 tornado with winds of around 97 mph and a path width spanning 150 yards.
The tornado’s path left a trail of damage along State Road 56 in Kellerville and Haysville. Officials report more than 2,000 households initially experienced power outages.

Collecting assessments will help IDHS determine damage estimates and develop the next course of action in the disaster recovery process.
The Dubois County Emergency Management Agency has released guidelines for debris removal.
Residents can dispose of natural wood debris, construction material, and metal fragments at Haysville Park South Field and the intersection of County Road 960 East and State Highway 56. Additionally, construction debris dumpsters will be placed at the Dubois County Drop Site at 5080 N State Road 545.
Tammy Humbert, the agency’s director, announced that these sites will operate from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. starting today and will remain open until Wednesday, August 16th.
Humbert requested that wood debris within county right-of-ways be positioned next to the roadway for collection. If possible, cutting the debris into smaller 8-foot sections would be greatly appreciated.
