BLOOMINGTON — Indiana University Bloomington students have started moving into residence halls for the 2023-24 school year.
The majority of students will begin arriving on Sunday, Aug. 13, and Tuesday, Aug. 15.
All students moving into residence halls at IU Bloomington will go through a centralized check-in process, at the DeVault Alumni Center today and at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Sunday, Aug. 13 until Tuesday, Aug. 15.
Students arriving the week of Aug. 13 will enter check-in from the State Road 45/46 Bypass at Gate 11, Purple Lot, and park in the Green Lot by the north entrance of Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. Students will then use the facility’s north entrance to check-in. All students should bring a photo ID, preferably their IU CrimsonCard, which will be activated on-site for residence hall access.
Check-in will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 13, and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 14 and Tuesday, Aug. 15.
Once students have completed centralized check-in, they will proceed to their residence halls. Individual parking and move-in instructions for each residence hall are available on the Residential Programs and Services website.
Those traveling to campus before Aug. 13 should avoid Dunn and 17th streets, which will have lane restrictions and sidewalk closures for a Duke Energy project.
Travelers should also check the Indiana Department of Transportation TrafficWise website before heading to Bloomington for any potential delays or detours due to construction or traffic. IU Police Department officers will be stationed at several intersections around campus, and signs will help guide traffic.
Wednesday, Aug. 16, will mark the start of Welcome Week activities aimed at helping students find their way around, make new friends, and acclimate to campus. Highlights include:
- New Student Induction Ceremony: 10 a.m. Aug. 16 at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.
- CultureFest: 4 to 6 p.m. Aug. 17 in the Fine Arts Plaza.
- Traditions and Spirit of IU: 8 p.m. Aug. 18 at Memorial Stadium.
Classes begin on Monday, August 21.
