February 22, 1936-August 11, 2023
Betty Jean McGill, 87, of Bedford, died Friday, August 11, 2023.
Born February 22, 1936, in Lawrence County, Indiana. She was a graduate of Fayetteville High School with the class of 1955. A good and faithful servant, go rest now with Jesus. When her eyes closed, there was no doubt when she opened them, she saw the face of Jesus.
Her entire life was centered around what God would want, and whether was she doing good enough, to the point that she sometimes didn’t feel she measured up, which we know she did. We are at peace knowing that our mom, grandma, sister, and aunt are in the presence of the Lord.
She loved her grandsons as much as she loved her God! We will be forever grateful that we had her for as long as we did. We will choose to remember the kind, caring soul who would do anything for her son, daughter, grandsons, and many others. She can walk the streets of gold, wear the crown, and have the biggest mansion in heaven, she deserves that and much much more. No worries about us. She taught us all about God’s love. Momma – we’ve got it here on earth, thanks to your prayers for all of us. Until we meet again, we will love and cherish every good memory. In Jesus’ name.
She was survived by daughter Kimberly Watson, grandsons Evan (Jaci), Kyle, and Tanner (Katelyn), great-grandchildren Charlotte, Chloe, Graham, Cooper, and a baby boy coming in December. She is also survived by her twin sister Gerri Dunn (Jack), sister Sue Murphy, brothers Charles (Sue) Raines and Harold (Joni) Raines, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her soulmate and husband, Joseph McGill, son Kelvin McGill, parents Henry and Reba Raines, special nephew Kenny Murphy, and brothers Donald, Wendell, and Bill along with sisters Margaret, Martha, Lorena, Elizabeth.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 13th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Marty Speer officiating. Burial will follow in the House of Prayer Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Sunday at the Day & Carter Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Assoc. or the White River Humane Society.
