BLOOMINGTON – At Leonard Springs Nature Days, our motto is “Leave no Child Inside.” Bloomington Parks and Recreation use this unique, experiential nature education program to introduce every sixth-grade student in the Monroe County Community School Corporation to Leonard Springs Nature Park.
Between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., students and their teachers and parents travel between stations to learn more about the natural world and how we’re all connected to it!
Hundreds of students participate in the Leonard Springs Nature Days program each academic year. It takes the efforts of lots of people, including volunteers like you, to make Leonard Springs Nature Days a significant part of every student’s educational experience.
Approximately 20 volunteers are needed to serve as Station Facilitators and Group Leaders from 9:45 a.m. until 2:15 p.m. on Tuesdays this September and October. Volunteers are welcome to sign up for one, two, or all dates.
Upon registering, you will receive a confirmation email with detailed information about the day (training/orientation videos, directions, what to bring, etc.) You will receive notice of your assigned role approximately one week prior to your registered date(s).
If you have questions about Leonard Springs Nature Days or would like more information about what volunteering for the program entails, please contact volunteer coordinator Emily at 812-349-3739 or email emily.buuck@bloomington.in.gov.
