COLUMBUS – Three people were arrested following a prostitution investigation that was launched after Columbus Police officers learned of an advertisement on an escort website.
Police say 32-year-old Mariel Hautman and 48-year-old Corey Singer were involved in offering sex for money in a Columbus neighborhood.
According to a press release, police conducted a search warrant on Hautman and Singer’s home in north Columbus. When the search warrant was executed, officials said that probable cause was established to place another person, identified by police as 55-year-old Chad Singer of Davenport, Iowa, under arrest.
When officials searched the home in the 3000 block of Streamside Drive, they located several bags of methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia. Officers also located a 4-year-old child inside a bedroom that was locked from the outside.
Police determined Corey Singer was a sex offender who was not in compliance with the sex offender registry, according to the release
All were taken to the Bartholomew County Jail and remanded with a 48-hour hold on the following preliminary charges:
- Mariel Hautman: dealing methamphetamine, neglect of a dependent, maintaining a common nuisance, and prostitution.
- Corey Singer: maintaining a common nuisance, failure to register as a sex offender, and prostitution.
- Chad Singer: visiting a common nuisance
Police say additional charges are possible in this ongoing investigation.
