BEDFORD – At last night’s North Lawrence County Schools board meeting, the board approved an amended motion to allow middle-school aged students from outside the NLCS district to participate in Bedford Middle School football and color guard, contained to the 2023 season.
During the meeting, students waiting to join if the movement was approved were on-location for the color guard and football team at the BMS game. As the motion passed, the students were contacted and told of their ability to participate in last night’s color guard and football.
The movement is contained to the 2023 season until the Board has time to further explore the technical side of the original proposal; opening swimming, wrestling, color guard, and football to middle-school aged students outside of NLCS indefinitely.
Restrictions and qualifications such as ensuring participating students maintain a certain grade level or don’t have infractions on record, are going to be taken into account moving forward.
