INDIANA – Hoosiers are being warned of an incoming week of extreme heat.
Over the weekend, the region experienced temperatures of 82 degrees, up from the usual range of 85 to 63. The heat will intensify this week.
From Sunday through Thursday, an excessive heat warning is going into effect. The heat index may well reach potentially dangerous levels.
Residents are being advised to expect a scorching 110 degrees on the heat index.
Protective measures, such as staying hydrated, wearing light-colored clothing, and using air conditioning where possible, are highly recommended.
Despite these rising temperatures, forecasters hope for a dry cold front to arrive Saturday, August 26, which would bring the region back to its normal temperature range.
