Ronald “Ron” W. Silvers, 77, of Bedford, passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at his residence.
Born December 18, 1945, in Pottsville, PA, he was the son of William “Willie” M. and Bobbi (Cole) Silvers. He married Bonnie Strunk on September 16, 1965, and she preceded him in death on July 19, 2010. He was a factory worker for Cummins Engine, and Visteon, and retired from Cook Inc. in 2013.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the U.S. Navy and a member of the Williams First Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Ron (Jayne) Silvers, of Oolitic, and Jon (Cathy) Silvers, of Bedford; five grandchildren, Meighan (Dan) Fritch, Devin Silvers, Chelsie (James)Pond, Heather, and Emily Daugherty; great-grandchildren, Lydia Fritch, Logan and Lincoln Pond, Stevie Joe Shifflett, and Zarin Daugherty and Korben and Sullivan Fritch.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a sister, Gaynell Silvers; two brothers, Donnie and William Silvers.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 24th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Bro. Perry East officiating and where military rites will be accorded by members of Gillen Post 33 American Legion. Burial will follow in the Springville Christian Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 23rd, and from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Thursday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
