BEDFORD – During the Board of Works meeting yesterday, Ashlynne Bender and Misty Adams announced the successful acquisition of a grant for $1.3 million dollar grant for the Spider Creek Infrastructure Project.
The ROI Readi grant has been years in the making. The city of Bedford has been working towards addressing sanitary sewer overflows since Bedford Mayor Joe Klump’s administration from 2003-2008.
The project will address flooding around the 5th Street area, overflow at the Spider Creek Lift Station area, and provide sanitary sewer upgrades along 22nd Street for a proposed housing project near the former Georges Gateway building.
The $1.3 million grant will go towards this project.
Ashlynne Bender, one of the 4 under 40 2023 recipients has worked for the City of Bedford as the Director of Business and Community Development since 2021, and this is not the first grant she has helped the city acquire.
