Pepper spray attack lands woman behind bars

BEDFORD – Bedford Police officers arrested a woman on Tuesday, August 14 after responding to 2033 30th Street following a report of a physical altercation in progress.

Danielle Douglas

When officers arrived at 3:27 p.m. they found a white Toyota Echo traveling east on 30th Street. The driver was 20-year-old Danielle Douglas. Another woman was found standing in the roadway alerting the officer that the driver of the Toyota was involved in the dispute.

Officers stopped the driver.

The 40-year-old woman in the roadway and her 19-year-old son had both been pepper sprayed. Their faces, eyes, and neck were red.

The male told the police he and his friend were sitting inside the Toyota when Douglas opened the front door and began punching him. He exited the vehicle and went inside and she followed him. She then began breaking items and pepper sprayed him.

The woman told police she heard her son yelling and went to see what was happening and that is when Douglas pepper sprayed her and kicked her. The woman said Douglas had broken into their home.

At some point, Douglas took the male’s keys returned to the Toyota, and began driving away. The male told police he never gave Douglas permission to take his vehicle.

The woman attempted to stop Douglas from leaving with the vehicle by climbing into the back seat. While inside the vehicle Douglas kicked the woman in the face and again pepper sprayed her in the face.

The woman requested to file charges against Douglas and signed a battery affidavit.

Douglas told police she went to the home to retrieve the Toyota from the male and drive it to Wisconsin. She told police she was under the impression she was allowed to take the vehicle. She said the woman got into the rear seat and began choking her and that is when she pepper sprayed her.

Douglas was detained. Police found a smoking device containing marijuana in her possession.

Douglas was arrested on charges of residential entry, battery, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
