Stuart Ratcliff approved as a new probationary officer for BPD

BEDFORD – At yesterday’s Board of Works meeting, the board approved the adoption of candidate 33-year-old Officer Stuart Ratcliff as replacement personnel for the Bedford Police Department.

The decision was also approved last week on August 16th by the Bedford Police Pension Board and came before the Board of Works for finalization yesterday.

“He’s mature and ready for what law enforcement entails,” said Police Chief Terry Moore. “He believes it’s the correct and right time for him.”

Stuart Ratcliff is from Lawrence County, and he studied Criminal Justice in college. He was an intern at the Bedford Police Department roughly ten years ago, and he decided he was ready to come back, and went through the application process over several months.

Stuart Ratcliff will be a probationary officer for one year and then will become a permanent officer with the Bedford Police Department.
