BEDFORD – A Switz City woman was arrested after a Bedford Police officer stopped her vehicle on Saturday, August 26.
Police arrested 45-year-old Sarah Frye on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated controlled substance, OWI with a prior conviction, OWI endangerment, possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of a syringe, and possession of marijuana
Police stopped Frye’s vehicle after receiving a call at 7:22 p.m. reporting a possible intoxicated driver in a burgundy Kia Sorento traveling south on Becky Skillman Way.
An officer got behind the vehicle and observed the driver failing to maintain its lane of travel and jerking the vehicle back and forth.
The vehicle was stopped on State Road 37, north of John Williams Boulevard.
Faye told police her tire was low causing the vehicle to shake. However, police say Frye appeared to be under the influence of drugs with rapid speech and pinpoint pupils.
She failed several field sobriety tests. She would not submit to a blood draw.
Canine Zazu alerted officers to possible drugs in the vehicle. Inside the vehicle, police found a magnetic box that contained several cut straws with meth residue and a rolled marijuana cigarette in the center console. In her purse police found a smoking device that contained meth residue. A syringe was also found in the vehicle.
A warrant was secured for a blood draw and Frye was transported to IU Health Hospital.
