Passenger arrested for meth in pant pocket

BEDFORD – A Bedford man was arrested on Wednesday, August 30 after a Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputy stopped his vehicle on Leesville Road near Old US 50 East.

The officer stopped Stephanie Osborne for not having a license plate light.

The officer asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle and she said no. She then gave the officer permission to search her gray 2014 Hyundai.

Her passenger was 30-year-old Dennis Potter. Both were handcuffed for officers safety.

While an officer was conducting a pat down they found 1.05 grams of crystal meth in Potter’s pocket.

Potter stated he bought meth a few days ago and forgot it was in his pocket.

Potter was arrested on a charge of possession of meth.

Osborne was issued a written warning for the license plate light being out.
