Edward Gerald Potts, 83, passed away Sunday, August 27, 2023, at Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital.
Born February 23, 1940, in Martin County, he was the son of Cecil Edward and Mary Louise (Dillon) Potts. He married Marilyn Arlene Clifton on June 10, 1961 and she survives.
Edward was a 1960 graduate of Bedford High School. He retired in 2008 from Crane NSWC as an electronic technician. Edward was a member of the American Legion Post No. 250 and the International Order of Odd Fellows Shawswick Lodge No. 177. He was a member of the Indiana National Guard and was a licensed pilot.
Surviving are his wife, Arlene Potts of Bedford; children, Kenneth Edward Potts of Rogers, Arkansas and Kathy Ann (Rob) Qualkenbush of Orleans; grandchildren, Amber (John) Peterson, Matthew Robbins, Brittnee Robbins, Jade Tuper, Jet Melvin, Richie (Chelsey) Potts, Kailey (Jacob) Morris, Natalie (John) Kluska, Grant Qualkenbush, and Emily Qualkenbush; great-grandchilren, Abby, Farrah, Taylor, Brady, Jacob, Alexander, and Ella; sisters-in-law, Mary Lou (Jerry) Melton and Karen Phipps; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents; daughters, Liana Sue Robbins and Linda Denise Tuper Melvin; and siblings, Pauline Bicknell, Arthur Potts, Daniel Potts, Ronald Potts, and Marie Garren, preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 6, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Pastor Kenneth Allen officiating. Military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
