BLOOMINGTON – Come coach the next big college basketball star.
The City of Bloomington Parks & Recreation Department is looking for 50 coaches who can commit to once-a-week practices and games from mid-October to mid-December.
Practice times are once a week; coaches choose a practice time between 5:30 and 9:30 p.m. Leagues are coed through Grade 3; girls play in a girls-only league beginning in Grade 4.
Practices and games run Oct. 16 – Dec. 14. No games or practices are held the week of Thanksgiving. All practices and games take place at the Twin Lakes Recreation Center, 1700 W. Bloomfield Rd. in Bloomington.
Coaches must be 18 years old or older, pass a criminal history background check, and complete a youth coaching certification course through the National Youth Sports Coaches Association. No prior coaching experience is necessary!
Prospective coaches must attend a mandatory coaches’ meeting on October 4, from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Twin Lakes Recreation Center. Practice times and the player draft will be held this night.
