GREENE CO. — A Linton man was killed in a single-vehicle crash along County Road 1250 West and County Road 500 North Sunday.
According to a release from the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, dispatch received an Apple Watch Emergency SOS alert at around 3:00 a.m.
EMS, fire, and law enforcement responded to the area. Offices searched the area and did not locate any vehicles or crash site, the release stated.
At 11:24 a.m. dispatch was notified of the vehicle’s location.
The driver, later identified as Steven T. Gimbut, 41, left the road for unknown reasons and struck a tree before coming to a stop in a wooden ravine at the bottom of an embankment.
Gimbut was pronounced dead at the scene.
