BEDFORD – Do you have what it takes to be crowned this year’s WQRK Southern Indiana’s Classic Hits & Litefm Persimmon Idol?
WQRK Southern Indiana’s Classic Hits & Litefm Persimmon Idol is a contest designed to showcase singing talent from the local area. The winner of WQRK Southern Indiana‘s Classic Hits & Litefm Persimmon Idol will take home a grand prize package which includes a trophy, a tee shirt and $500 cash.
The contest has a division for kids aged 10-17 years, and adults, anyone above 18 years old.
Auditions
Contestants will audition during the preliminary round and those selected to advance to the finals will perform on Mitchell’s Main Street Stage on Monday, September 14 at 7:30 pm.

The Preliminary Round is Thursday, September 14 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Mitchell High School Auditorium.
During the preliminary, each contestant will perform their song in front of judges. Auditions have a closed-door policy, which means that no friends or family members will be allowed into the audition room.
The contestants chosen to perform in the finals on the Main Street Stage will be contacted by Wednesday, September 20.
If you can’t make the Preliminary Round, you have the option of uploading a video (YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook, etc.) and sending the link to persimmonidol@wphz.com by September 14.
Main Street Stage Performance, September 25 at 7:30 p.m.
Contestants chosen to advance to the finals on the Main Street stage will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, September 25. Everyone is welcome to come out and cheer for their favorite performers. WQRK Southern Indiana‘s Classic Hits & Litefm Persimmon Idol is FREE for the public to attend.

The WQRK Southern Indiana‘s Classic Hits & Litefm Persimmon Idol winner from each division (youth and adult) will win the following Grand Prize Package:
- Litefm Persimmon Idol trophy
- Idol tee shirt
- $500 cash prize (adult division)
- $500 cash prize (youth division)
WQRK Southern Indiana‘s Classic Hits & Litefm Persimmon Idol Rules
- Previous contestants and previous winners may register to compete in the Idol competition again.
- If performing along with music, contestant will need to provide their own music (on CD) at prelims, no lead vocals on the track will be accepted. The contestant may use and provide their own instrument for accompaniment. Acapella performances are also allowed but not recommended.
- Contestants will need to provide lyrics to the song they will be performing. Please print and be prepared to present these lyrics at the preliminaries.
- Maximum song length is 4 minutes
- Music/lyrics must be approved by officials before the performance (no explicit language or message); discretion is up to WQRK Southern Indiana‘s Classic Hits & Litefm judges.
- If under 18, parental consent is needed in order for the contestant to perform on the Main Street Stage. If the waiver is not presented with a parent or guardian’s signature on the day of the performance, the contestant will not be allowed to perform or compete.
