COLUMBUS – Columbus East struck in the opening minute and rode that momentum to a 4-0 victory over Bedford North Lawrence during boys high school soccer action on Tuesday.
East’s Martin Simon Rodriguez started the scoring with the early goal, and he added another in the first half as the Olympians took a 3-0 lead at intermission. Justin Sylva posted the other first-half goal, while Brady Wiltsey capped the scoring in the second half.
East owed a 19-4 advantage in shots.
“We came out flat,” BNL coach Ryan Otis said. “They dominated possession the whole game. We need to improve our first touch and speed of play in order to maintain longer possessions. We will work on that.”
The Stars (2-4-1, 0-2-0 in the Hoosier Hills Conference) will host Jennings County on Thursday.
