SPRINGVILLE – A 22-year-old Oolitic man was arrested for drunk driving after an Indiana State Police trooper responded to an accident at 10:43 p.m. on Sunday, September 3 at North Pike Road and Benham Lane in Springville.
The trooper arrested Luke Woody on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated after he failed numerous field sobriety tests.
Woody told the trooper he crashed his 2013 Dodge Charger when he attempted to miss a deer that ran in front of the vehicle.
The car struck two mailboxes and a light pole.
While speaking with Woody the trooper could smell the odor of alcohol. Woody admitted to drinking earlier in the day.
Woody had a blood-alcohol level of 0.127.
Woody was transported to IU Health Hospital for a medical evaluation and then transported to jail on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated
