BEDFORD – On Saturday, September 2, at 9:29 p.m. Bedford Police Department dispatch received a call from an employee at Circle K at 1428 16th Street about a possibly impaired driver who had just left the store and was traveling east on 16th Street.
Bedford Police officers responded to the area.
Dispatch then received a second call reporting the driver had returned to the store and was not at the fuel pumps.
Officers found 56-year-old Don Moore, of Bedford still at the fuel pumps.
Moore was told about the complaint and was asked to submit to field sobriety tests.
He agreed but failed the tests. Police say Moore’s speech was slurred, his eyes glassy and he smelled of alcohol.
Moore was detained on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
An inventory was conducted on the vehicle before being towed where police found a marijuana cigarette and a smoking device.
He was then charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Moore submitted to a certified breath test and had a blood-alcohol level of 0.115 percent.
The vehicle was towed by Mikel’s Wrecker Service.
