BLOOMINGTON – An Indiana State Police report states at least one person was hurt Thursday in a crash involving a semi-tractor trailer that shut down parts of State Road 446 near Bloomington.
When troopers arrived at 10:10 a.m. they found a red International semi-tractor trailer in a wooded area on the side of the road. Also responding was Monroe Fire Protection District.
State police say the semitrailer was hauling large pieces of cut limestone at the time of the crash.
According to police, the man was traveling north on State Road 46 about a mile south of the Cutright SRA Boat Ramp when the vehicle went off the east side of the road. The trailer lost its load of limestone blocks.
The driver, a 52-year-old man from Bedford, was hurt and was transported to IU Health Bloomington Hospital for treatment. Police did not say how severe his injuries were.
Traffic was shut down until 3:45 p.m. on State Road 446 in both the north and southbound lanes between the Cutright State Recreation Area Boat Ramp and Chapel Hill Road while crews removed the wreckage and troopers investigated the crash. The Indiana Department of Transportation assisted with the road closure.
Police determined the driver’s commercial driving status was invalid and he was issued a citation for operating a commercial vehicle while disqualified.
