JEFFERSONVILLE – Bedford North Lawrence struggled to break through Jeffersonville’s defensive wall as the Red Devils stopped the Stars 5-0 during girls high school soccer action on Saturday.
Abi Lemon and Scarlett McRae both scored twice for the Red Devils, who remained unbeaten in the Hoosier Hills Conference. Hannah Magruder also found the net for the Devils.
“They had some very good defenders that were hard to get through,” BNL coach Bret Roberts said. “Britta Warren had a breakaway chance with the goalie and her shot hit the cross bar.
“We made some mistakes on defense, leading to their goals. We played well other than that. I don’t think they were five goals better than us. We didn’t give up and fought hard. They were a very physical team so some of our girls were pretty beat up by the end of it.
“We will have a bit of a break from games this week, to practice and work on our defense and other areas we need to improve.”
The Stars (3-6-0, 0-5-0 in the HHC) will journey to Seymour on Thursday.
