INDIANA – The Indiana Big Tree Register (IBTR) has been updated.
Previously, it had been updated every 5 years, most recently in 2015, but with no updates in 2020. However, with these new updates, officials are now opening up nominations on a continuous basis.
Current champion listed locally:
- In Lawrence County: Butternut – with a 180-inch circumference and 74 feet tall.
- In Lawrence County: Silver Maple – with a 361-inch circumference and 103 feet tall.
- In Daviess County: Pale Hickory with an 81-inch circumference and 92 feet tall.
- In Greene County: Pin Oak – with a 306-inch circumference and 112 feet tall.
- In Jackson County: Eastern Red Cedar, with a 153-inch circumference and 65 feet tall.
- In Jackson County: Swamp Cottonwood, with a 100 circumference and 108 feet tall.
- In Washington County: Scarlet Oak with a 224-inch circumference and 92 feet tall.
