Driver fails to stop for a stop sign, police find meth

BEDFORD – A Bedford man faces drug charges after Oolitic Town Marshal James Harrington stopped his vehicle on Sunday, September 10 after he noticed a vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Fourth Street and Lincoln Avenue.

While following the vehicle Marshall Harrington noticed the license plate was not properly illuminated and the vehicle had a broken driver’s side taillight.

The vehicle pulled into a driveway at 209 N Street and the officer conducted a traffic stop.

Travis Bailey

The driver was 45-year-old Travis Bailey. When Marshall Harrington approached the driver’s door he could smell the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Bailey was asked to step out of the vehicle.

Bailey had a smoking device in his front pants pocket. The pipe contained 0.71 grams of meth. Bailey was placed in handcuffs and arrested on charges of possession of meth and drug paraphernalia.
