MITCHELL – Last night, the Mitchell Community Schools board was thrilled to approve Kevin Conner as the new School Resource Officer for Mitchell Schools. A unanimous vote made his hire effective the same day, September 11, 2023.
This is a new step towards a safer school experience for Mitchell students. “I appreciate you putting your trust in me,” Kevin told the school board.
The new SRO will work on a school year schedule, which means he won’t be working over holiday breaks or during the summer break.
While his office will be located in the High School and Jr. High School building, he will patrol all four of the schools during the day, Hatfield, Burris, MJH and MHS.
Kevin Conner has 18 years of police officer experience in Brown County and Paoli, as well as serving as an Indiana Conservation officer.
Mitchell has been looking to hire an SRO for a while, and plans and prayers are finally coming to fruition with Kevin’s hire.
