Bloomington man arrested in connection to Lawrence County woman’s death

BLOOMINGTON –  Detectives from the Indiana State Police’s Drug Enforcement Section, South Zone ERT, Bloomington District Troopers, and Jasper District Troopers at approximately 9:30 a.m. Wednesday arrested a Bloomington man in connection with the death of a Lawrence County female.

Aaron Reynolds, 35, of Bloomington, was arrested on warrant without incident in Bloomington. The warrant was for dealing a controlled substance resulting in death.

In May 2023, a female was found deceased in her Bedford home. As a result of an autopsy, it was determined the cause of death was Fentanyl toxicity. In August 2023, detectives from the Drug Enforcement Section initiated an investigation into her death.

Using various investigative techniques including the issuance of search warrants, interviews, and the review of documents, detectives determined Reynolds had sold the female subject a controlled substance leading to her death. Detectives applied for an arrest warrant through the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office.

Detectives again used a variety of investigative techniques to locate Reynolds at the Crawford Apartments in Bloomington. He was arrested without incident and a search warrant was executed at his apartment. Reynolds was transported to the Lawrence County Jail where his custody was transferred.

In 2018, Indiana lawmakers made dealing drugs resulting in death a crime punishable by up to 40 years in prison. Dealing a Controlled Substance Resulting in Death is a Level 1 Felony.
