LAWRENCE CO. – The launch of the inaugural season of middle school soccer teams for the North Lawrence region continues this week as the boys and girls teams are in the midst of their respective ten-game seasons.
The girls team defeated the Washington Catholic middle school girls team at Washington on Monday, September 11.
Home games are played at the BNL soccer complex on Stars Boulevard across from the BNL high school.
Both the boys and girls teams will play in their conference tournament the week of September 25 to September 30.
Financial assistance from the Orbit Soccer organization was critical to helping launch the new soccer teams, along with approval for use of facilities and school transportation by the BNL school corp. Each team includes nearly 20 players from sixth, seventh, and eighth grades in the northern part of Lawrence County, and are coached by unpaid volunteer coaches.
