MITCHELL – A Mitchell man faces charges of invasion of privacy after a Mitchell Police officer responded to a complaint at 131 Burton Street after a report of a burglary on Thursday, September 14.
The caller reported someone attempted to get into her home but she couldn’t see them and then hung up the phone.
Earlier in the day, officers had received reports from the woman that 39-year-old Shawn Cole had threatened to beat down her door to retrieve his belongings. The woman has an active protective order in place against Cole.
When officers arrived at 10:27 p.m. they found Cole quickly walking away from the residence on Burton Street. He was stopped and detained. Police say Cole had been drinking.
Cole denied being at the woman’s home, but police found Cole within 300 feet of the woman’s house.
The woman told officers that Cole had attempted to enter a window.
Again Cole denied the allegations.
He was arrested and transported to jail.
Officer Tuner obtained photographs of the screen that was pushed in and photographs of the
text messages sent by Shawn to DoneƩa. Shawn was transported to the Lawrence County Security
Center on the above mentioned charges.
