Our mom will long be remembered for her devotion to Jesus Christ, her love for her children and grandchildren, and her compassion for those unwell or in need. Mom had a great sense of humor and a hilarious cackling laugh that we will never forget. She enjoyed catching up with friends, watching the Colts or IU basketball games, and reading from her bible. She was very proud of the fact that she was able to purchase her own home later in life. She also took great pride in the many years she served others at the Bedford Medical Center.
Our mom deeply understood that her worth was not measured by dollars or approval from others. She followed an internal compass that always led her back to her relationship with God. She was a breast cancer survivor for many years. She considered her greatest accomplishment to be her three children. Even many years from now, we will still be able to feel the weight of her love for us. And when we think of her, we will still be able to hear her reassuring us that, “You did good baby.”
Our mom passed away peacefully with us at her side in IU Bloomington Hospital in the early hours of September 18, 2023. She was 79 years old.
Charitable donations in her memory can be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation or to the Bedford Free Methodist Church, of which she was a member for many years.
There will be a burial of ashes and graveside ceremony at Memorial Park Cemetery in Vincennes, Indiana in 2024.
