AUSTIN – Britta Warren scored two goals as Bedford North Lawrence rallied from an early deficit to conquer Austin 4-1 during girls high school soccer action on Wednesday.
The Stars (6-8-0) gave up the first goal (Reagan Lewis at 11:50 in the first half), then came roaring back. Warren scored her first (off a Rachael Barr assist) at 7:18, and BNL took the lead on an own goal (following a BNL corner) at 5:38.
Rose Dusard extended the BNL advantage with a goal with 30:20 left, and Warren capped the offensive output (her 16th of the season) with 26:51 left.
“We did well on defense, except for the one slip-up on their first goal,” BNL coach Bret Roberts said. “Our midfield and offense was a different story. We played a new formation with three forwards. We were trying to dribble the ball through them instead of passing, and it wasn’t working. We were having a hard time settling the ball and instead we were just kicking it and creating chaos.
“What worked for us was keeping our forwards up high and sending the ball through for them to run onto it. It was not our best game and I don’t think we were playing our game. I am glad we were able to figure it out 3 and come out with the win.”
BNL will visit North Harrison to conclude the regular season on Saturday.
