BEDFORD – Floyd Central completed the regular season with a 3-0 victory over Bedford North Lawrence during boys high school soccer action on Saturday.
Ahmad Khalil scored two goals for the Highlanders. Tyler Sharp broke through for the first goal at the 35-minute mark of the first half, and Khalil created separation with his first at 12:53. Khalil capped the scoring with a second-half goal at 36:26.
The Stars, still managing through several injuries, totaled only five shots.
“I’m really proud of how the kids fought with that much adversity,” BNL coach Ryan Otis said. “We frustrated Floyd all game with our work and intensity. All three goals were hard earned.
“The back line was under a lot of pressure and stepped up. We just need to get healthy for the sectional now.”
BNL (6-8-1 overall, 1-5-0 in the Hoosier Hills Conference) will face New Albany in the Class 3A sectional semifinal at Jeffersonville on Wednesday.
