Flora Jane Ray, 85, of Bedford, passed away at 5:08 a.m. on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at the Indiana University Health Hospice House.
Born February 3, 1938, in Martin County, she was the daughter of Henry Aden and Mamie Farrell (Roberts) Taylor. She married Roger Ray on April 12, 1957, and he preceded her in death. She was a Housekeeper for St. Vincent Dunn Hospital and was of the Christian faith.
Survivors include two daughters, Tammy Henderson and husband Terry of Bedford, Tina Hanners of Bedford, one son, Jesse Ray and wife Carla of Bedford, nine grandchildren, Shannon Burton and husband Thomas, Rebecca Ray, Danielle Ray, Brian Hanners and wife Sara, Tyler Henderson, Jeff Henderson, Crystal Henderson, Terri Armes, and husband Larry, Lindy Wine and wife Misty, twenty-two great-grandchildren,
four great-great-great-grandchildren, one sister, Ada Riggle and husband Ralph of Mitchell, two brothers, Perry Taylor of Fayetteville and Don Taylor of Bedford, two sisters-in-law, Delilah Taylor of Bedford, and Gloria Poole of Bedford, as well as several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded by her parents, husband, a grandson, Timothy Hanners, five sisters, Norma Thompson Coursey, Roberta Cornelison, Larna June Anderson, Evelyn Johnson, and Mamie Farrell Taylor in infancy, four brothers, Robert Taylor, Chester Taylor, Karroll Taylor, and Lowell Taylor.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Millard Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Hopkins Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday.
