BEDFORD – Lawrence County Treasurer Jody Edwards presented the Lawrence County commissioners with the county’s property tax collection policy.
Edwards said there were no changes to the policy but was issued a state examiner’s directive requiring her to publicly record and present the policy.
Edwards shared that the policy is available to the public at the Treasurer’s Office.
Taxpayers are reminded that there is a 5% penalty added if taxes are not paid by the deadline. If taxes are more than 30 days past due a 10% penalty is added.
Fall property taxes are due on Monday, November 13.
“Fall taxes are normally due on November 10th but that is Veterans Day and the courthouse will be closed and the office will be also closed on November 7th for Election Day,” added Edwards.
