Vangie Kendall

Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to a report of a physical domestic dispute at 1:07 p.m. at a home in the 100 lock of TV Tower Road in Mitchell.

The caller told dispatch he was in an active fight with his daughter 45-year-old Vangie Kendall, and he wanted her removed from his property.

When police arrived the male caller reported Vangie had been screaming at him and accusing him of poisoning her cats.

She became so angry she struck the male in his left arm with what police said appeared to be a broom or mop handle. He told police his daughter had threatened to hurt him with bodily injury several times in the past and had pushed him, knocked him down, and called him names.

The male requested EMS to check out his injury. EMS told police the man suffered a possible fractured arm and was transported to IU Health Bedford Hospital by his girlfriend. Doctor stated
the male’s arm was not broken but badly bruised and would be sore for a few days.

Officers spoke with Vangie and she stated she and her father have a “rough relationship” and had several arguments in the past but neither had ever called the police.

Vangie told police her father hit her with a rock from the front yard during the altercation. Police could not find the rock.

The father signed a battery affidavit and arrested Vangie on charges of battery causing injury.
