November Altrusa International meeting report

BEDFORD – The November meeting of Altrusa International of Bedford was led by President Bill Barnes.  Altrusa just completed its annual nut sales with member Nina Doan being the top sales person again this year with the sale of 297, 1 Lb. bags. The profits are used within the community to further education goals.

To date Altrusa is reaching its monthly goal of 500 pounds of plastic caps and lids to meet their 2,200 pound goal for the products needed for the pickle ball court by early spring.

To donate your caps they may be delivered to the office at Thornton Park, in the box at the recycle center on South 37, or given to any Altrusa member.

Twenty-six Christmas food baskets will be assembled at the next Altrusa meeting, also held at the Southland Church annex, on Thursday, December 21 at 2:00 p.m.

The Bedford Parks Department will notify the receiving families and any baskets not claimed by 4:00 p.m. will be turned over to the Salvation Army Service Unit. Funding for these meals is provided by the Altrusa Club with assistance from the Southland Church Women’s Wednesday Bible Study Class.

Altrusa will be changing their monthly meeting place for calendar year 2024, and it will be held at the Annex to the Southland Church of Christ unless the facility is being used for a funeral dinner.  In that case, we will meet at the First United Methodist Church.

The next meeting will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 21, to assemble the Christmas Baskets.
