INDIANA – INDOT crews are back to work after a brief holiday break, and the new I-69 is scheduled to open by the end of 2024. When complete, it will be America’s latest interstate.
Overnight single and double-lane restrictions are expected this week on eastbound and westbound I-465 near Bluff Road, the Indiana Railroad overpass, and Harding Street. Lane restrictions will occur overnight between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. for bridge and pavement demolition work. Lane restrictions will take place one location at a time. This schedule is dependent upon weather and may be delayed if necessary.
An upcoming traffic switch will close the right two lanes of westbound I-465, between Mann Road and I-70, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. on the evening of Monday, January 8. The entrance ramp from State Road 67/Kentucky Avenue will also close during this time. If weather delays this work, restrictions may occur on the evening of Tuesday, January 9.
Be alert for intermittent eastbound and westbound traffic stoppages on I-465 between Lick Creek and I-65 through March while demolition work on existing pavement continues. Intermittent stoppages should only last up to 20 minutes at a time.
The southbound US 31/East Street ramp to I-465 westbound will remain closed into summer 2024.
There will be single-lane restrictions on southbound SR 37/I-69 between Smith Valley Road and SR 144 starting Monday, January 8, through Friday, January 12, to remove the temporary barrier wall. This schedule is dependent upon weather and may be delayed if necessary.
Intermittent stoppages are scheduled on southbound SR 37 between Olive Branch Road and SR 144 on the evening of Thursday, January 11, for overhead sign installation. Stoppages are expected between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m. for up to 20 minutes.
The actual starting date and duration for work and any closures may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen activities occur.
