BEDFORD – Lawrence Superior Court I Judge John M. Plummer III sentenced a Bedford man to four years in the Indiana Department of Correction.
Rodney Miller, 29, pleaded guilty to auto theft and possession of a narcotic drug. He was sentenced to four years in the Department of Corrections, which will begin after Miller finishes serving a three-year sentence in Orange County. He will also be required to pay restitution for damage to the vehicle.
“Drugs and thefts are all too commonly intertwined. This case is no different. We will always seek justice for victims of crimes.” Chief Deputy Joshua Scherschel.
Miller was arrested in December 2022 after a Mitchell Police officer noticed a stolen blue Ford Ranger traveling south on State Road 37 from US 50 West and intercepted the vehicle.
The driver was Rodney Miller.
In Miller’s pocket, the officers found a glass smoking device commonly referred to as a “chicken bone” with meth residue inside. Officers found oxycodone pills, 13 grams of crystal meth, 15 grams of marijuana, and numerous baggies in the stolen truck. A draw-string bag in the truck bed held eight used syringes. Counterfeit $100-dollar bills of $1,100 were also found.
