Johnny Joe Hayes, 72, of Bedford, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024, in Monroe County, Indiana.
Born on January 22, 1951, in Jackson County, IN, he was the son of Clyde and Mary Mikels. He married Edith Rhea Dawn (Sullivan) Hayes on December 6, 1968, in Brownstown, and she preceded him in death on May 18, 2011.
Johnny was a stone cutter for Indiana Limestone. He worked there for 12 years before retiring in 1986. He loved the outdoors.
Surviving to cherish the memory of Johnny are his children, Rhonda (Michael) Greene, Johnny (Shawna) Hayes, and Adam Hayes; grandchildren, Aydan Hayes, Logan Hayes, Shelby (Joe) Laque, Brad (Darian) Collier, and Ben Collier; great-grandchildren, Adelyn, Trey, Jackson, and Hadley Laque; and his granddog, Memphis.
Johnny is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and daughter, Darla Hayes.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 12, 2024, at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes in Bedford, with Pastor Randy McCollum officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. Visiting hours are from 11:00 a.m. to the service time on Friday at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel.
