OMAHA, Neb. — A Brown County man is dead after a reported homicide in Omaha, Nebraska, according to officials with the Omaha Police Department.
Alyssa Roman, 31, is charged with second-degree murder and use of a weapon to commit a felony in the death of her boyfriend, Alan Crister, 33.
The department said officers were called to a home at 7438 North 55th Plaza in north Omaha around 5:10 p.m. on Dec. 29, 2023, to investigate a possible home invasion.
When officers arrived, they found Alyssa Roman exiting the home. When officers went inside the home, they located 33-year-old Alan Critser.
Prosecutors said Roman used the victim’s shotgun and shot him, hitting him in the upper torso and neck, causing his head to be “almost off the body.”
Witnesses told police that Roman had forced her way into a home in northwest Omaha on Dec. 29, wearing only a shirt, according to court documents.
Prosecutors allege Roman, who was high, ran out of a house partially clothed after shooting Crister.
Police said she showed signs of excited delirium, so they took her to the hospital, according to court documents.
According to his obituary, Critser was originally from Morgantown and graduated from Brown County High School. Critser served as an Airman First Class with the United States Air Force assigned to the 388th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron. Alan is survived by his parents, Jack and Linda Critser, and sister, Rachel (Daniel) Barnes, all of Brown County. A Celebration Gathering will be held on Saturday, January 13th, from 11 a.m. until 2:45 p.m. at the Seasons Conference Center in Nashville. A Celebration of Life Service will occur at 2:45 p.m., followed by Military Rites presented by the United States Air Force and the Brown County Honor Guard.
Roman is being held at the Douglas County Corrections facility. She is scheduled to appear in court on February 14.
