BEDFORD – A Mitchell man is facing numerous theft charges after a Bedford Police investigation.
Police arrested 35-year-old Zachery Flynn on multiple charges of felony theft.
According to a probable cause affidavit on October 28, 2023, at 8:11 p.m., officers responded to Rural King on James Avenue after the store manager reported a male employee who was working outside the building spotted a male leaving the store through an emergency exit with a full shopping cart and loaded the stolen items into a blue Chevrolet Silverado. The man left two Milwaukee batteries, a hat, Carhart boots, and a jug of oil in the cart. The incident was captured on store security video.
Police were able to identify the man as Zachery Flynn. Police then learned that Flynn had also been captured on video stealing items from Rural King on October 30, November 3, 13, 20, and 22. Many of the items were stolen, including tools. Rural King estimated the total theft from the store to be more than $8,400.
Police spoke to Flynn, who admitted he stole objects not only from the Rural King store in Bedford but also in Jasper. He told police he planned to return the items, but admitted he planned to sell the stolen items for cash.
