GREENE COUNTY- With temperatures dipping into the single digits in the next week, officials in Greene County are asking the community to help fill the need of warming centers for those who need extra help staying warm.
“Warming centers are requested for Greene County.” Said Roger Axe, Director of Greene
County Emergency Management Agency. “Due to the forecasted bitter cold and dangerously low temperatures, for this weekend through Tuesday, we are asking our churches and fire stations to open their doors to those in need. With fire stations and churches all over Greene County, these are some of the best resources we have.”
Those opening warming shelters are requested to notify Greene County EMA at 812 384-4012.
“We would also like to request those at risk like our senior citizens rethink attending religious
services this week-end so not to put their selves and other at risk.” Axe concluded.
