SEYMOUR – Three Bedford North Lawrence wrestlers finished as runner-ups in their respective weight classes during the Hoosier Hills Conference meet on Saturday.
The Stars finished seventh in the field with 55.5 points. Columbus East won the team title with 266.5.
BNL’s Jorj Filler was second at 126 pounds. He handled New Albany’s Will MacLaughlin by technical fall (a 20-3 decision) in the first round, then edged Jeffersonville’s John Stivers 5-4 in the semifinal. In the final, Floyd Central’s Brandon Didat dominated during a 19-8 major decision.
At 165, BNL’s Ethan Stancombe reached the final by topping Seymour’s Briley Compton 7-2 in the opening round, then by thumping Jeffersonville’s Zander Hobbs by a major decision (15-3) in the semifinal. Columbus East’s Clayton Miller clipped Stancombe 7-6 for that title.
BNL’s Junior Arellano was second at 285. He pinned East’s Dominic Piper in 3:06 in the semifinal, but suffered a 5-3 loss to Floyd’s Justin Brown in the final.
The Stars will host North Knox on Thursday.
