MITCHELL – A man was arrested on a warrant after Mitchell Police and Lawrence County Sheriff Department officers say he threatened a man and woman with a hammer and rifle.

He said he went to the home on State Road 60 to pick up Hensley’s girlfriend, who was leaving him. The female was putting her belongings in the male’s vehicle when Hensley exited the house, went to a blue truck, and grabbed a hammer and a rifle.

Hensley began yelling and approached the woman and male driver, threatening bodily harm. Hensley allegedly then struck the windshield. The two then left the home and immediately called 911.

Police met with the male victim at the Mitchell Police Department and then went to Hensley’s home. But Hensley would not answer the door. Police attempted three more times to speak to Hensley but were unsuccessful.

The information was forwarded to the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Officer. A warrant was issued for Hensley’s arrest on charges of intimidation with a deadly weapon, pointing a firearm, and criminal mischief.
