BEDFORD – A public hearing on the proposed Spider Creek Lift Station project and customer rate increase will be held on Tuesday, February 20th, at 7:00 p.m. at the Stonegate Arts and Education Center.
The Bedford City Council approved the first reading to increase sewage rates and improve Spider Creek Lift Station. The project’s projected cost is $22 million but will not exceed $25 million. The project is expected to be completed by December 2025.
The Bedford Redevelopment Commission, in their meeting Tuesday, pledged $2 million of Tax Increment Funds (TIF) towards the project with another two million dollars at a later date.
The City of Bedford intends to use $1.8 million of the American Rescue Plan Act, Regional Economic Acceleration & Development Initiative funds, an ROI grant of $250,000, and an Indiana Economic Development grant of $5 million, and the City of Bedford will contribute $1 million to the completion of the project.
A City of Bedford resident pays approximately $44.50 for using 4,000 gallons a month, which will rise to $64 a month within three years.
