MITCHELL – JANUARY 27, 2024 – Officer Mike Bargo came to the Mitchell, Indiana Police Department five years ago and exemplified what it means to be a police officer. He is now stepping down to move closer to his family in Tennessee.
In his five years at the department, this police officer left a huge impact on the community he became a part of and was welcomed as their family.

Friday night it was evident to both Officer Bargo and the community that sometimes saying goodbye really is hard to do. Yes, a few tears were shed, but his friends and law enforcement family celebrated and had an evening of fun sending Officer Bargo back to his home state of Tennessee.

Officer Bargo completed his final shift at the Department this week, and he will be sorely missed.
His leadership has been essential to the small Indiana community in building up their police department.
” This has been the best, being a part of this small town. The community opened their arms to me, we all had some high and lows but truly meant the best to me. This place has became my secondary home, everyone in this room has became family,” said Officer Bargo.
His extended family planned a get-together at El Compadre’s Restaurant in Mitchell on Friday night to officially say goodbye and let them know how much they have loved and appreciated him over the years.
