BLOOMINGTON – A Bloomington man was sentenced to three years in prison last week after he pleaded guilty to sexual battery in a negotiated plea deal.
As part of the agreement, Darius McCormick, 33, pleaded guilty to sexual battery, a Level 4 felony, in exchange for the rape charge, a Level 3 felony, being dropped.
McCormick was arrested after a woman reported in July 2022 that McCormick had sexually assaulted her daughter.
The woman’s adult daughter reported meeting McCormick after he messaged her on Facebook. The victim told police McCormick was friends with her child’s father.
McCormick came to the woman’s home and assaulted her. She told police she told McCormick numerous times she did not want to have sex with him and to stop because he was hurting her. The assault continued until McCormick finished.
A warrant was issued for McCormick’s arrest on August 5, 2022, and he was detained on August 11, 2022.
