BEDFORD– The Lawrence County Commissioners met Tuesday, January 30, at the Lawrence County courthouse.
Paula Stewart was appointed Auditor for the Insurance Committee by unanimous vote.
Brandi Webb gave a report for the Highway Department. She spoke briefly to update the Commissioners on the project, replacing missing or damaged green road name signs and to get approval for a crosswalk and signs at Mount Pleasent Church across Mount Pleasent Road. The crosswalk was voted on and approved, 3-0.
Valerie Luchauer gave an update for the Emergency Management Department. She spoke about a meeting with Bloomington officials on their estimates for visitors for the day of the eclipse in March. Luchauer shared an estimate of at least 300,00 in Monroe County and 11,000 projected at Spring Mill State Park, with Lawrence County to see a proportionate increase in traffic on public roads, especially hotel areas.
Sheriff Greg Day gave a quick update on the jail population, and then a motion was made to adjourn the meeting. The motion passed, and the business for the day concluded.
