You can support endangered wildlife with Indiana taxes

INDIANA – While filing, consider this neat way of donating to Indiana Wildlife through your taxes.

The Indiana Nongame Wildlife Fund was established over 40 years ago with the goal of supporting endangered species across the state.

Donations go straight to the Department of Natural Resources, which will use the money to get matching grants from the federal government.

Depending on how you file, the way you donate differs.

For traditional filing with paper forms, taxpayers must use the Schedule 5 Form, also known as the IN-DONATE form.

You will need the following information to correctly complete your form.

  • the fund name, Indiana Nongame Wildlife Fund
  • the fund code, which is 200
  • the amount of the donation

On line 17 of the IT-40 form, fill out the total amount of donations.

The process is similar for online filing. Donors will need to fill out the same information, which will come at the end of filing.
