Carolyn Jean (Baker) Wellman, 90, of Bedford, passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024.
Born June 22, 1933, in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of Charles and Ilene (Harvey) Baker. She graduated from Heltonville High School with the class of 1951. Carolyn married Hershell Axsom in 1951, and he preceded her in death in 1991. She married Charles Wellman on April 17, 1995, and he passed away in 2016. She worked at RCA and NWSC Crane, retiring in 1992. She was a member of the Englewood Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Mike Axsom, and wife, Karen, of Bedford; a step-son, Dane Wellman, of TN; a grandson, Dustin Shoults, and wife, Ragen, of CO; a sister, Judy Mason, of Bedford; brothers, Billy Don Baker and wife, Janice, of Bedford and Jim Baker, of Mitchell; a sister-in-law, Teressa Wellman, of Bloomington; a step-daughter-in-law, Glenda (Bruce) Nickless; several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands; a daughter, Susie Axsom; a son, Don Axsom; a step-son, Mike Wellman; a sister, Katie Lantz; brothers, Jr. Baker and Fred Baker; in-laws, Latonia Baker, Sam Wellman, Jim Wellman, and Janice Wellman.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 7th, in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary, with Pastor David Ferry officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Wednesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
